Introduction

LaunchLab, on behalf of MultiChoice, hosted a workshop on 3 March to engage with the media, tech and innovation community. We are looking for ideas with business potential that will move towards the next breakthrough innovation in media. LaunchLab will be holding a media specific Pitching Platform on behalf of MultiChoice starting 6 April as part of our Ideas Programme.

This challenge is designed to unleash innovation in the video entertainment value chain (production, processing, distribution, consumption).

We are looking for ideas that: analyse data regarding behaviours and preferences of video consumers,  trends centred around content consumption, new and innovative content, new ways to produce content and provide entertainment.

Why should you get involved?

Each winner stands a chance to win a share of R100,000 (R50,000 for 1st, R30,000 for 2nd and R20,000 for 3rd) in seed funding as well as incubation support at the Nedbank Stellenbosch University LaunchLab (including workspace, internet, portfolio manager and mentorship).

Pitching Platform

MultiChoice is looking for ideas that:

  • Gather and analyze data on behaviours and preferences of content consumers
  • New breakthrough innovations in the media business
  • New and innovative content production or innovating models for producing content
  • New technologies or innovative uses of existing technologies anywhere in the media value chain
  • Overall, MultiChoice will be interested in businesses and models that assist us to drive growth and resonance in our audiences in media.

 

The Pitch

Entrepreneurs only get 3 minutes to record a video pitch.  LaunchLab provides no facilities for visual aids, but props and demo devices are allowed.  Any content beyond the 3 minutes will not be considered in the judging.

We look for the following criteria in the pitches that we receive:

  1. Problem or Need, and the Opportunity
  2. Value Proposition
  3. Target Market
  4. Team
  5. Business Model
  6. Future Plan
  7. What do you need?
